New 2024 Ford Transit Connect Compact Van PHEV Revealed

Today, Ford Pro announced the latest addition to their lineup - the new Transit Connect compact van. This van completes their collection of high-efficiency, electrified Transit commercial vehicles in Europe.

The Transit Connect PHEV represents the final step in Ford Pro's journey to electrify their Transit series in Europe. This journey began with the introduction of the E-Transit, continued with the electric E-Transit Custom (which was the first electric version of Europe's top-selling one-tonne van), and included the E-Transit Courier.

The Transit Connect now features a completely new powertrain lineup, highlighted by its first-ever PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) system. This system combines a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with an electric motor and a high-voltage battery. This combination produces 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque, which is channeled through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The van can carry a maximum load of 770 kg and tow up to 1,400 kg.

With a focus on efficiency, the Transit Connect PHEV is designed to cover up to 110 km on electric power alone. In its EV mode, it can still produce up to 330 Nm of torque, making it suitable for urban delivery tasks.

For recharging, users have the option of using a 50 kW DC fast charger, or they can fully recharge the onboard 11 kW AC charger between work shifts.

Ford Pro also offers support services to enhance the productivity of Transit Connect operators. These services include software solutions, maintenance services, flexible financing options, and specialized fleet solutions featuring telematics.

This third-generation Transit Connect is a part of Ford Pro's most comprehensive compact van lineup to date, which also includes the new Transit Courier and the upcoming electric E-Transit Courier.

The production of the Transit Connect is set to begin in spring 2024. The diesel version is expected to start being delivered in the summer of the same year as part of a phased launch plan. The Transit Connect PHEV will be added to the lineup later in the year, followed by all-wheel drive and Kombi models, which are slated for release in early 2025.
