Nickel Mining Pollution, Election Words, Say versus Tell

Описание к видео Nickel Mining Pollution, Election Words, Say versus Tell

On today’s podcast, Ashley Thompson and Mario Ritter, Jr. host the show. Ashley tells listeners what they are going to hear.

(:53) First, John Russell and Ashley have a story about the environment. Indonesia is the world’s third most rainforest-covered country, home to giant forest flowers and rare wild animals such as orangutans and elephants. The country also has the largest reserves of nickel in the world. Environmentalists are worried about efforts to mine the nickel. https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a...

(8:52) Then Jill Robbins and Andrew Smith have a special Education Tips story about terms and ideas related to elections in the U.S. Every four years, the United States holds an election for the President in November. In the summer before the election, the political parties meet to nominate their candidates and tell the voters about their policies. Use this to learn or teach the expressions you might hear during an election year. https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a...

(17:57) After the education tips, Ashley and Jill have a discussion about vocabulary in the feature and the issue of word stress. They look at the noun “delegate,” which can also be a verb that is pronounced slightly differently.

After a promotional message for the series Let’s Learn English with Anna, you will hear Lesson of the Day.

(20:24) Today, Jill and Andrew talk about the difference between “tell” and “say” as it appears in Lesson 22 Level 2 of Let’s Learn English. They give examples of how to use those words in a fun dialogue between Anna and Sue about trash and treasure. They also include a chant to help listeners remember the difference between “say” and “tell.”
