Transphorm's Primit Parikh shows some of the applications that are benefitting from the 50% reduction in size and weight made available by the use of GaN FETs. Examples include a 4.5-kW solar inverter now sold in Japan, a 200-W switching supply that's half the size of its silicon-based equivalent, and theater lights based on LEDs.
