NO HEX CHALLENGE! [Tutorial/tips in desc] || WolfQuest Anniversary Edition

I'm tired of joining these in MP and seeing players that don't know what to do!

I did not come up with this challenge, but I've played it MANY times.

First off, you need to know the difference between TERRITORY WOLVES and PREDATOR WOLVES.

🟡TERRITORY WOLVES🟡

Attack right away; they either run in or spawn in right after sleep. Predator icon is instantly there whether you move/woof or not.
Focus on YOU. Won't look at pups, won't care if they're out of grass.
WILL NOT KILL PUPS.
CAN'T be chased with just growls/emotes. They need to be BITTEN to a silver of health. Bold wolves will fight to death, cautious ones will flee if low. Bite the one that has a STARTING flight bar higher than the rest (cautious/low health).
⚠️VERY IMPORTANT: The most effective strategy to get rid of them is to ALL focus on the one with the highest flight bar and bite it. You can see how fast that works SEVERAL times in this video.
STOP biting once their flight bar (yellow) is full or near full, they'll tuck their tail and try to get away. LET THEM GET AWAY. If someone keeps biting, the rest will remain aggressive.
It's smart to NAME/LABEL all the wolves so you can quickly (QUICKLY!! NO LONG NAMES) say which one is worth targeting in chat.
Another strategy that works is to lure them into a hex of your own, DISENGAGE ENTIRELY (ALL PLAYERS) and confront them again. Their flight bar (yellow) will be MUCH higher, and you can growl them away without biting/getting bit. This is the best if you're all low health and/or wakefulness.
They spawn in groups of 4+, rarely 2. Sometimes, more than one group of wolves can spawn. This happened here at 27:20 (you can see a group fled, while another remained aggressive).
Other predators can and will attack while these wolves are present. See    • Double predator attacks!! || WolfQues...   for more double predator attacks. Always try to chase out the other animal first, since these wolves will not hurt pups.
These other predators can include wolves, sometimes from the same pack, and will NOT cause 2 wolf icons; only one.


🔴PREDATOR WOLVES🔴

Circle before attacking. They don't rush in to attack, you need to woof or confront them for the icon to trigger. You can see those here at 14:07 (they only attacked when someone woofed).
Target PUPS, not you. They won't look at you nor initiate biting, usually.
Will kill pups and are very obvious about it. If they get out of grass/den, they will stop biting you to get to them.
Can be chased with JUST GROWLS, no need to bite.
Spawn in groups of 1-4, rarely 5-6 if all 5 players are at den.
They are EXCLUSIVE. They will never trigger 2 predator icons, only territory wolves can.


🟢THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND🟢

If you got as many pups as you got players (5-) you can move to the stranger hex the first day, when they're wobbly. Everyone picks up a pup and runs to it.
If you got more pups than players, you can wait till the second day (when they're not wobbly anymore) to move there.
It's smart to choose a den that's close to the home hex. Don't pick a den that's several hexes away from your stranger hex of choice, or you'll finish the game before you even get there.
If you move to just any hex instead of the home hex, it will get claimed by you unintentionally. You increase your claim on a hex whenever you chase wolves away successfully. It cannot be helped, unless it's an unclaimable hex (home hex).
If you kill ANY of these wolves, they may disband. YES, they can disband if you kill a single subordinate. If you want to not have to move, do not kill ANY wolves.
This requires cooperation to be a fun experience. Otherwise you'll all just die over and over.
For MP: if you die, STAY DEAD FOR THE LOVE OF WOLFQUEST. Let another player lead them into a claimed hex/away from you before you revive and get killed another hundred times.
If everybody is repeatedly dying, STAY DEAD and let the wolves walk away.
Pups always, always take feeding priority; but especially when you'll just get bitten to death the next morning. If you have plenty of food, eat. If you're struggling, DON'T EAT.
After a while of living there, the home hex can disappear/move. The pack will still be active for a couple days. That also happened here, at 42:45 .
Try to keep affinity high!
