Want mods and custom content in your game? Sick of playing boring vanilla sims 4 - well here is how to install sims 4 custom content into your game. Once you mod and CC you never go back.

Important Notes:

First to enable custom content and mods in your game you need to go to settings. I recommend doing this before downloading mods and custom content. Simply load up the game as normal on the menu click the 3 periods on the top right of your screen it will look like this ( ... ) go to game options and select other you will see a feature that says " enable custom content and mods " you want to enable this feature and save all options you may also want to enable DirectX 9 in the graphics setting as some mods and custom content only works with this option. once you have both features enabled save your game and exit as normal. After this step you can start adding all the mods and custom content you want.

Second when EA updates the game is it very very important to remove your mods folder onto a thumb drive or external drive before you update. After removing your mods folder update the game as normal. Sometimes the game after updating will turn off the DirectX 9 feature and the enable custom content and mods feature. Refer the the first important note and proceeded with the steps above and exit out of the game as normal. Once you do that then put back your mods folder.

Types of graphics for mods and CC and general information

There are two types of 'graphics' for mods and cc these are called Maxis Match and Alpha. What are the differences? Maxis Match (MM) mods and custom content graphics match the graphics of sims 4. Alpha doesn't match and looks a bit more realistic

General Information:

1.Be careful of what mods you download as some mods and custom content violate the user agreement with EA and can be illegal. Some mods and Custom content may look harmless but can be viruses so I recommend proceeding with caution. If its a mod and you aren't sure please see if there is a youtube video about it or ask sims 4 communities on social media

2. This tutorial is for Windows PC users and I do not know how to do it on Mac ( I don't own one )

3. If your game doesn't open its likely one of your mods or custom content simply remove the file and run the game - if it opens likely that file isnt compatible with the game

4. Some mods and cc may not work or glitch during gameplay I recommend contacting the developer of the mod or cc to let them know
