Tell us about yourself
I was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia and have been spending the last two years of my education in BINUS SCHOOL Simprug.
Since the 7th grade, I’ve developed a keen interest in debate and writing - which I further explored in my extracurricular activities, including but not limited to WSC, Model UN, essay competitions, etc.

How did you feel when you received the offer?
Happy would be an understatement.
Having looked into their acceptance rate and admission statistics, my confidence was almost entirely diminished.
That said, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw an offer on the UCAS website – and more so when I received an offer letter from my preferred college.

How was the application process for you?
I personally found it quite stressful and overwhelming, especially since the university and scholarship application occurred simultaneously.
But it was bearable thanks to the support I received from the Binus staff (e.g. recommendation letters, counseling and guidance, etc.).

What made you want to attend Oxford?
I think Oxford offers a very substantive law program and, in doing so, would better prepare me for my future legal career.

What are you hoping to study and why?
Law.
Both my parents studied law and that’s how I was introduced to the subject originally, but over time, I grew a personal interest in it.
I’m interested in how the law governs the exchange between an individual’s right and responsibility.

Do you feel like your time at Binus Simprug has prepared you for university?
Definitely.
The IBDP offered at Binus has trained me to think more extensively. Courses like the TOK, for instance, taught me how to consider varying perspectives and ideologies before making a final conclusion.
I think that this program also trained me to manage my time.

What will you miss most about Binus?
I’ll miss the community, both the faculty and students.

What advice would you give to our upcoming graduating class?
Manage your time effectively and do not procrastinate, because that’s only going to amplify your stress in the long run. There’s a lot of things to do - ranging from IAs, tests, uni apps, extracurricular activities etc. - so make sure to allocate your time appropriately.
I feel like the university application process starts way earlier than you think. For instance, I mentioned a lot of the activities I did in grades 8/9/10 as opposed to solely discussing what I did in the past few months or so. It’s less overwhelming when you see it that way.
