In the trenches of World War I, while bullets flew overhead and soldiers huddled in darkness, one man was quietly revolutionizing our understanding of the universe. Karl Schwarzschild, a German physicist turned soldier, took Einstein's revolutionary field equations - published just months earlier - and discovered something that would haunt and fascinate scientists for decades to come.
