➡️ “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” won our latest poll, so I’m back with MORE Primus! Out of the few ‪@officialprimus‬ songs I’ve heard so far, I definitely think this is the weirdest one. The song subverts everything I know about traditional songwriting and harmonic structure, but still sounds cohesive with a really unique (and fun) vibe. In this video, I react to a live performance from Live from MTV's Haunted House Party (1993) and discuss their unique usage of dissonance, Les' two-handed bass tapping techniques, how he mutes the strings, his very two-fold bass tone throughout the performance, his slap bass and strumming technique, how this song breaks all the songwriting rules, how dissonance can actually sound pleasant, and much more.
