ABOUT AEA Microphones:

Wes Dooley, AEA’s founder always had a love for the RCA 44 because it was the favorite microphone of his first mentor in audio recording, Wally Heider, and his legendary musician friend, Les Paul. When Wes was 18-years-old, Heider taught him how to record an entire band with just one RCA 44 mic.

R84 series ribbon microphones deliver the classic tonality of the legendary R44, with extended top-end and reduced proximity effect for mid-range and close-range recording. The R84A is an active version of the passive R84 that allows compatibility with a wider range of preamplifiers.

The stereo R88 & R88mk2 ribbon mic captures sound as your ears hear it, with an honest and open tonality. The R88 effortlessly records complex sources like drums, strings, piano, and other instruments that produce intricate transients, harsher highs, and bellowing lows. Features two Big Ribbons™ in a fixed Blumlein and mid-side configuration.
