BRITISH ARMY OFFICER FITNESS

Here I show you what type of fitness British Officers are conducting during training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The course is split down into 3 terms (Junior, Intermediate then finally senior term).

Junior term:

On arrival at Sandhurst you will conduct a fitness test RFT E (Role Fitness Test Entry) which is throwing a 4kg ball, a mid thigh pull and 2km run) and a Military Swim Test. In the Junior term the focus we be learning foundational movement patterns, agility, swimming and running. During this term exercising in military clothing and equipment is slowly and gradually introduced.

During this term you will run a steeple chase competition which is running course with hurdle obstacle

Intermediate term:

During this term the focus is strength and exercising and training in military clothing (fighting order etc). With this there will be more marching with weight and obstacle course training. S+C sessions, swimming and running are still conducted during this term. Towards the end of this term all officer Cadet will conduct fitness testing RFT S (Role Fitness Test Soldier) and will conduct a fitness assessment SCR (Soldier conditioning review).

During this term you will run a log race competition.

Senior term

Physical training during this phase is reduced but the focus is maintaining military functional fitness. Officers cadets will continue to train S+C during their own time incorporating all that they have learnt in the Junior and Intermediate terms. During this term you will conduct a Combat Military Swim Test (CMST) which is a swim test in Military clothing.

During this term you will run a march and shoot and endurance competition.
