Here’s two key tips for integrating a 2D character with a 3D background:
1 - Try to match the amount of information more closely between the 2D and the 3D. 3D can easily get quite complex with layered reflections, dense textures and the like. If you have a bunch of hue variation in tour render, you might want to introduce it in your 2D. If you have simple reflections in your 2D, you might want to simplify them in your 3D.
2 - Overlay your ENTIRE image with some global adjustments. Maybe a 2% multiply or color layer, maybe a global levels adjustment. When you subject the entire canvas to the same process, it starts to feel more cohesive.
