A shocking development from the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), which has unveiled a massive corruption scandal at Tembisa Hospital. In an interim report released earlier this week, the SIU revealed a devastating plunder of the public purse, exposing three coordinated syndicates responsible for the looting of over R2 billion.

This staggering sum, originally intended for vital healthcare services for the most vulnerable, was instead siphoned off through a complex web of fraud and corruption.

The SIU's findings represent an egregious betrayal of public trust, highlighting widespread irregularities and corrupt activities involving both officials and service providers.

Furthermore, key officials from the Gauteng Department of Health and Tembisa Hospital are implicated, accused of benefiting from corrupt payments that facilitated the irregular appointment of service providers. The investigation further exposed money laundering and fraud through fronting and the use of false supply chain management documentation.
