A meditation on color and the pleasure of seeing, 'Sweet Spot' is an immersive installation designed by Shawn Causey and Mark Daniell and assembled with the help of 85 volunteers over the course of several weeks in March 2016. It is made of miles of thin multicolor nylon string. The movement of the viewer activates 'Sweet Spot' as every change in perspective reveals new color harmonies. The strings seem to flicker and undulate as the eye moves because it is difficult to discern which strings are near versus far. This hypnotic effect compels the viewer to move slowly as the eye registers the ever-changing color and depth of the composition.
