Bertie Wooster's Dance (Charleston) at the Midland Hotel, Morecambe

Many famous figures graced Oliver Hill's 1930s Art Deco masterpiece the Midland Hotel in Morecambe. These including Noel Coward and reputedly Coco Chanel. Anthony Padgett (dance teacher at the Hotel for a number of years) here envisions Bertie Wooster (from the P.G. Wodehouse book series) dancing the Charleston at the Hotel. In typical Bertie style he gets up to all manner of terpsichorean silliness - and without the aid of a bot' to drink. After his behaviour "beyond the rabbit fence" he even manages to leave his hat and jacket behind, containing his wallet and house keys. Only Jeeves can save him! It's not often that Bertie uses language like this but "Tch!" Wearing a 1940s CC41 suit. Driving a 1930s style Madison car. Music "Jeeves and Wooster" from the TV series starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry. Music by Graham Dalby and the Grahamophones. Thanks to the hotel for permission to film - May 2018.
