Nea Epidavros is a lowland village in the prefecture of Argolis. It is located on the eastern side of the prefecture, near the border with the prefecture of Corinthia. It belongs to the municipality of Epidaurus and its population according to the 2011 census is 896 inhabitants.
Nea Epidauros is built inside a steep rock, in a position that made it invisible from the sea, from which it is only a short distance away. The choice of location served to protect the village from pirates. The physical fortification of the position was strengthened by the existence of the Byzantine castle that still stands half-ruined on the steep rock on the northern side of the settlement.

The First National Assembly of the revolutionary Greek state took place in Nea Epidaurus , on December 20, 1821. The Epidaurus national assembly voted for the first Greek state on New Year's Day 1822 and designated the blue and white flag as the Greek flag . At that time Nea Epidauros was called Piada and after the liberation it was renamed to its current name.
