Tutorial - Potting Pickups Using the Wax Potting Process

Описание к видео Tutorial - Potting Pickups Using the Wax Potting Process

Welcome to Crimson Guitars https://www.youtube.com/user/CrimsonC...

In this episode, Ben Crowe from http://www.CrimsonGuitars.com goes through the process of wax-potting four humbucker pickups that had become microphonic and were creating un-wanted feedback next to the amp.

True vintage-spec humbuckers are not wax potted and can sound better for that at low volumes, with less distortion. Wax potting became prevalent as volume increased and we got our hands on fuzz pedals. If you can live with microphonic pickups, by adjusting your tone control or where you're standing, then that's great. Most modern players just can't be bothered with that and want a rock-solid pickup that can take everything you can throw at it. This is where you want to wax pot your pickup!
