Throughout History and the centuries there have been many different methods of execution which were considered brutal and barbaric. One of the worst was reserved for those men who committed acts of regicide, attempts to assassinate and kill the Kings, Queens and Royal Family of a country. Being pulled apart by horses was a brutal execution method, in which a condemned person was tied to four different horses by their limbs, and then they were driven off in different directions. It was brutal and savage, and was used alongside other tortures too, and crowds would comment on how sadistic an execution method this was.

It was used in France to punish Francois Ravaillac and Robert Francois Damiens, who both committed acts of regicide attempting or killing the French King. It was used also in Poland against Michal Piekarski, who tried to assassinate King Sigismund III. Being ripped apart by horses was an execution method which was used in different continents also, and it took inspiration from Roman execution methods.
