Ingredients
1/2 cup green moong dal
1/2 cup urad dal
2.5tbsp masoor dal
2.5 tbsp toor dal
2.5 tbsp moong dal
Salt as per taste
Grated carrot
Curry leaves
Fresh coriander
Ghee or oil for cooking the appe
Recipe
1. Mix all dals and soak it overnight
2. Grind it into smooth paste , add water as required
3. Take 1 cup of batter in a mixing bowl
4. Add 3/4 tsp of salt , 1/4 cup grated carrot and fresh coriander . Mix well
5. For tempering: heat 1 tbsp oil and add 1/2 tsp black mustard seeds , 5-6 curry leaves and green chili if you prefer .
6. Add the tempering into the batter and mix well
7. Add 1/2 tsp of fruit salt , followed by little water over it and mix gently
8. Heat appe pan and add ghee to each slot
9. Add batter in each slot and cover with lid and cook on low flame
10. After 1 min check and flip it
11. Add ghee and cook for another 1-2 mins on low flame
12. Take it out once golden from both sides
13. Serve it with coconut chutney or coriander chutney or any chutney of your choice
