The Western Illinois Museum welcomes two area historic interpreters, Estelle Bath and Nancy Chu, for a workshops on creating Victorian Tree Decorations. They guide you through making five Victorian style decorations for your tree. The workshop is best suited for children age six and above with adult supervision.

The workshop uses materials found around the house like cinnamon sticks, candy, and even evergreen boughs. Here's the material list:

Cinnamon Stick Bundles: Three cinnamon sticks, evergreen bough, string
• More ideas? Take a walk outside and find leaves, twigs, or seedpods like pinecones that you can wrap together for a decoration

Icicles: Five 3 x 5 inches foil squares and string

Accordion Chain: One 5 x 18 inches sheet of wrapping paper
• More ideas? Try using tinfoil.

Hanging Candy: Three pieces of candy and 4 x 8 inch sheets of tissue paper, string.
• More ideas? Color the tissue paper before you twist it around the candy. Write a secret message on the inside of the wrappers.

Dresden Elephant: Cardstock paper ornament
• More ideas? Write a message or holiday greeting on the back. Glue wrapping paper or collage colored paper on the back. Add glitter, stickers, buttons, or small items that can be glued on.
