The Viva's - Same Old Fragility

This was going to be The Viva's first B-Side to our first single, but then never got released as the record company went bust. I suffered for years with severe anxiety, depression, and alcohol dependency this was a song all about it. Maybe this was the first time I used this technique, singing pretty tragic words over a very upbeat poppy tune, I loved the juxtaposition. After recording the song, and mixing it for hours I actually started to hate it, now with all the years that have passed, I can look back on it with fondness. I think it's a really great little pop tune and I'm proud of it. I stumbled upon this video on FB the other day and it made me howl with laughter, and I thought maybe I could use it here. There's something so comical about so many of the mishaps, but I think the funniest thing about it, is when the people look like they have just made it, it's that moment they relax, and then 'bang' it happens, just like life. Here's to getting back up again and dusting yourself off, for one more go. I've now been sober, for many years, and life is a lot easier to navigate......cheers Spencer Maybe.
