Homemade Air Filter Oil Recipe and foam/K&N style air filter tips!!!

Описание к видео Homemade Air Filter Oil Recipe and foam/K&N style air filter tips!!!

This is DIY stuff here. A homemade air filter oil recipe.

Use 1 1/2 to 2 parts of chainsaw bar oil to 1 part ATF, Power steering oil or (my favorite) blue 2 stroke oil, mix well. The Air filter oil is put into a Ketchup bottle for easier dispensing. The ATF gives it the red color, while blue 2 stroke gives it the blue color, power steering has no color.

Cleaning oil based air filters, 2 ways. 1. I use leftover coffee cans to keep Mineral Spirits in just for cleaning filters, and magic marker the outside of the can. Never use brushes or hi-press air/water on foam or K&N style filters. Foam filters the mineral spirits will make them live, gas destroys foam filters. Cotton gause style of filters. I use a big enough container to hold the filter and swish around in the spirits for a while to get as much dirt out as possible. Save mineral spirits in coffee cans, the dirt will settle out in a week or so. Pour it to a clean container then pour out bad/dirty spirits then return good oil. You can use it for years.
2. Degrease sprays, the green spray and the purple sprays I use. Saturate the filter with the spray. Let it sit for a little and let the degreaser work. I use really hot water. Then carefully pour the water through the filter, from the inside to the outside. Repeat if you miss a spot. I heard about the Oxy clean stuff and it works great on grease stained clothes but I havent used it on filter cleaning yet, but I think it will work good, esp in a coffee can.

Let the filter air dry in a dry place. It will take a day or two.

Oil the filter down like I showed in the video, down each filter rib/fold. Dont over saturate the filter. Let it soak in and re-check to see if you need to re apply areas not covered. The Red and Blue oil colors help to show what is covered and what is missing air filter oil.

The bar oil (1/2 gal) I got, I have had a while. I looked at WM the other day and a 30wt bar oil 1/2 gal was over $10.00.

Maintenance is the #1 thing to make equipment live longer and have better performance. Thx for watching.
