Between the years of 1972 and 1977 The Edison National Historic Site in West Orange New Jersey hosted six evenings (usually Friday nights) bringing together still-living recording artists who recorded for the Edison record label on cylinder and/or Edison Diamond Discs. They organized the chief archivist at the Site – Leah Burt. The evenings were hosted by Profession and Edison scholar Raymond R. Wile and musicologist and professor Milford Fargo.
This is the recording of the 5th event held on October 17, 1975. I was lucky enough to attend six of the seven programs and capture and preserve images of the event on my film camera.
Sadly, these historic events were held before home video cameras will available. So that you are not looking at a blank screen, I have added repeated images from the evening. They are NOT coordinated to the audio (I don’t have the time) but are there for you to see.
I broke the evening into three parts. Each runs about an hour . These were long evenings. (and there was time afterwards for those in attendance to meet, chat with, and get autographs and photos with these legendary artists. )
