Industrial steam at South Hetton colliery Co. Durham.

Описание к видео Industrial steam at South Hetton colliery Co. Durham.

8mm cine film shot by me in the early 1970s at what I believe to be the last NCB site in County Durham to use steam locomotives. (I stand to be corrected!)
Well turned out Austerity type 0-6-0 saddle tanks moved coal from collieries at South Hetton and Murton much of which was destined for export at Seaham Harbour where the loaded wagons arrived by way of Stony Cut and Swine Lodge rope inclines.
The video locations include the yards at South Hetton, crossing the newly constructed A19 dual carriageway, and at the top of the first incline .
The final shot has No 62 heading towards Hawthorn with a considerable rake of empties.
The video has an authentic soundtrack which I recorded at the time of filming.
