In this lesson, you will learn what an irrational exponent is and how to simplify irrational exponents. An irrational exponent is an exponent that can't be written as a fraction. Examples include many radical exponents (exponents that contain square roots, cube roots, and other radicals), and exponents that contain the number Pi. These types of exponents follow the same rules as regular exponents. Rational exponents and irrational exponents can be simplified in a similar manner using the same rules of exponents.
