Installing the restored bells at Priors Norton, Gloucestershire.

Описание к видео Installing the restored bells at Priors Norton, Gloucestershire.

In 2024 a major restoration project to restore and improve the church bells of Priors Norton was completed. This footage is the final stage of that project, with Whites of Appleton Bellhangers and the local volunteer team, installing the refurbished bells in the strengthened frame.

Other work not shown in this video included building a new steel foundation for the 1930 wooden bell frame, wiring the tower for electric light and the refurbishment of the ringing chamber (incomplete in this footage)

The cost was defrayed through generous grants awarded by the Gloucester Historic Churches Trust, the Gloucester and Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bellringers, Garfield Weston Foundation, Enovert Community Trust and the Benefact Trust.
Also through the support of several personal donors including Mike Seagrave, Ivor Goulter, Hilda Ridley, Lark Briggs and many others who also generously gave anonymously.

The project was led by Simon Ridley and the Severn Towers Benefice, assisted by volunteers: Mike Seagrave, Rebecca Ridley, Nick Hopkins, Phil Cotton, Malcolm Taylor, Kirsty Gifford, Jeremy Alford, Euan Thomas, Rupert Howes, Hilda Ridley, Simon and Angela Dann, Mike and Emma Skidmore, Laura Finucane, James Mundy, Lucas Williams, Ian Bucknell, Clive Border, Quentin Jackson, and Mike Hartley.

The contractors were Whites of Appleton Bellhangers,
Halford Builders and Hale Electrical Services
Nigel Taylor, Bell Tuning consultant
Adrian Dempster of Ward Cole Structural Engineers
