Drawing Still Life Using Mark Marking- Art Demonstration

Do you want to explore mark making in your drawing? Do you want to develop an alternative way to create tone within your work? Do you want to learn how you can use cross hatching to create tone and texture in your work?

The project theme is ‘Still Life’ aimed at GCSE art students. In this piece the students can gain marks for assessment objective 2 and 3, working on developing experimentation and recording skills.

Students will be able to explore the work of Giorgio Morandi and use crosshatching as a way of mark making to create a drawing. This could be developed further into printmaking and painting.

Firstly select an image, then make a line drawing of this onto your paper. Use pen, pencil or fine liner to fill in the different tones using crosshatching, hatching or other mark making techniques.

Learn a drawing technique which could be explored in pencil, pen or fine-liner.

Equipment needed- paper, pens, pencils, still life images.
