Some estimates put the percentage of Buddhists at 21.6% when including followers of Chinese religions that incorporate elements of Buddhism.
The 2020 census by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) found that Malaysia's population is comprised of: 63.5% Muslims, 18.7% Buddhists, 9.1% Christians, 6.1% Hindus, 2.7% others.
