Skardu and Shigar are towns in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, famous with old forts and the natural beauty of the area.
Skardu Fort (or Kharphocho) dates from the 8th century, rebuilt in 16th century. The fort offers stunning views over Indus River and Skardu. The Shigar Fort, built in the 17th century shows the Tibetan influence in the architecture (Gilgit-Baltistan has many similarities with Tibet).

Locations in the video: Skardu Fort (0:26), Bab-e-Shigar Cold Desert (3:41), (4:42), Amborik Mosque (5:22), Buddha image from 9th century carved into a rock nearby Skardu (6:09), Lower & Upper Katchura Lakes (6:17).

"Gilgit-Baltistan, formerly known as the Northern Areas, is a region administered by Pakistan as an administrative territory, and constituting the northern portion of the larger Kashmir region which has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947" (Wikipedia).
