Some roofers cut the wood shingle overhang off and then install composition shingles over the existing wood shingles, but some don't and this particular home gives us an opportunity to see what it would look like with two layers of roofing and the overhang left alone. I don't even know if you're allowed to do this anymore, so make sure you check with your local building authorities before roofing over wood shingles.
