The ankle is one of the most commonly injured joints in the body, as a result, it is vitally important that medics have a basic understanding of how to strap an injured ankle in order to reduce the changes of a sprain or strain worsening, and also enabling the person to walk.

In this video we will look at the basics of how to apply ankle stirrups, ankle figure 6 straps and finally the heel lock taping

During ankle strapping following a sprain or strain, it is important to use zinc oxide tape to prevent movement. Supportive taping can be done using physio tape, but this will allow a greater range of movement, and thus would not be indicated in this use case
