How will India-US trade jump to an ambitious $500 billion? Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal says the new agreement gives India a decisive competitive edge over rivals like China and Vietnam. Speaking to NDTV, he expressed confidence that bilateral trade, already over $200 billion, can more than double within five to six years. Goyal highlighted opportunities for Indian exporters in both agriculture and industry, while stressing the importance of critical imports from the US in areas like AI, data centres, aerospace and coking coal. Calling the potential “limitless,” he argued that no country has ever become developed by looking inward, and that India’s expanding network of trade pacts with 38 nations will drive its march toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
