Form of the Song

"A Day in the Life" is the last song on The
Beatles record release, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The rock quartet released the album in 1967. The song was composed by both John Lennon and Paul McCartney, as they take turns lyrically through the different sections of the song.
There are a lot of rumors that have stemmed from this song, in particular, the death of McCartney. The book "Turn Me On, Dead Man" refers to the idea that the Beatles began a hoax about the death of McCartney, stirring up debates from hints dropped throughout the song.

The song itself has three sections. The second section changes timing and features McCartney on piano, leading into Lennon's psychedelic dream. Follow along to learn the different sections of the song and its progression.

"A Day in the Life" uses the following song form:

* Intro
* Section A
* Section B (McCartney solo on piano, 2/4 timing)
* Section C (Lennon goes into a dream)
* Section A
