The DA Calculator for July 2026 has started moving because the first AICPIN (All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers) data point for the July 2026 DA cycle is now available. As you know, Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) are revised twice every year, in January and July, and the monthly AICPIN numbers form the base for the DA calculation.
In this short update, we break down the official AICPIN January 2026 release and what it means for the expected DA July 2026 calculation. As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment press release dated 27 February 2026, the CPI-IW index increased from 148.2 in December to 148.6 in January. This is a rise of 0.4 points and it becomes the first monthly input that will be used in building the DA July 2026 estimate through the DA calculator.
Important clarity: the DA January 2026 decision is already considered final at the calculation level and the hike has been discussed as 2%, taking DA/DR to around 60%. The government notification is expected in March, and only after the notification the final confirmation is stamped officially.
