Professor Baljinder Singh addressed the Panthic gathering held to mark the 40th Anniversary of Sarbat Khalsa (1986) in Amritsar.

In his speech, he highlighted what he described as a systematic cultural dilution, pointing towards policies and narratives that mix, modify, and gradually diminish the Punjabi language and Panthic terminology. He cautioned that language, history, and religious vocabulary are not neutral tools, but the very foundation of a community’s identity.

Professor Baljinder Singh argued that when a people lose control over their language, symbols, and discourse, the erosion of identity follows. In this context, he presented sovereignty not as a slogan, but as a protective framework—necessary to preserve Sikh identity, Gurmat values, and cultural continuity.
