I thought I fully prepared myself for getting an IUD.
I did the research.
I took painkillers.
I was very wrong.

My appointment got moved to lunchtime, so I couldn’t go home after. I only took ibuprofen and asked for a lidocaine shot, thinking I’d be okay.

I was not.

The moment the procedure started, I got dizzy, couldn’t breathe properly, and started crying.
Then they had to measure my uterus — and that pain hit like a tsunami.

By the time the IUD was finally in, I was sobbing, gripping my boyfriend’s hand, barely holding it together.

The cramps after? Even worse.
Hours curled up in a ball, heat pads everywhere, crying and regretting everything.

Lesson learned: never underestimate IUD pain… and always advocate for stronger meds.
