In conjunction with the 2014 Fall Exhibition "Kiss of the Oceans," Dr. Julie Greene presents the special lecture "The Canal Builders" inside the Flagler Museum's Grand Ballroom.

Dr. Julie Greene specializes in United States labor and working-class history. She is the author of "The Canal Builders: Making America's Empire at the Panama Canal." The Organization of American Historians awarded The "Canal Builders" its 2009 James A. Rawley Prize for the best book on the history of race relations.

Dr. Julie Greene is the president of the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. She is a 2013-2014 Rockefeller Foundation Fellow and Professor of History at the University of Maryland at College Park.
