Dominguez was arrested on May 3, 2023, carrying a 7-inch hunting knife that police say matches the murder weapon. He had been expelled from UC Davis just days before the first killing. Police and prosecutors allege he moved through Davis methodically, attacking vulnerable victims in isolated public spaces. His defense says he was in the throes of an untreated schizophrenic break.
