For those who are not familiar with this field, functional medicine is an area where practitioners attempt to identify and address the root cause of disease. It looks at the person as a whole, rather than a disease centric approach. Integrative medicine on the other hand not only uses functional medicine as a basis of treatment, it also takes into account the lifestyle of the person and so the benefits of areas such as nutrition, sleep, mindfullnes and movement may also be discussed on a one to one level.
