I waited for His coming
I waited for His reign
Yet time moved on so slowly
The years passed just the same.
I longed for the Messiah
I longed to see my King
To know His lovingkindness
For my mournful heart to sing.
He came without a fanfare
Like a whisper in the night
But He filled the world with glory
With an everlasting light.
Now I live to serve Messiah
Now I live to hear His voice
And as I live in sweet communion
He makes my weary heart rejoice.
His is the sweetest fragrance
The tenderest embrace
Most glorious and gracious
Is the kindness in His face.
He is my great Messiah
The Lover of my soul
My Savior and my Shepherd
My Friend who makes me whole.
I waited for His coming
I waited for His reign.
And now my wait is over:
Christ came.
