In 2023, Tara Dominick painted “BOAT” a poignant artwork inspired by her deep concern for the global refugee crisis. Through a serendipitous connection with Hubert Senga and Generation Aid, a refugee-led nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering refugees in Kakuma Camp through innovative education, the Kakuma Art Project was born.

Together, they envisioned conducting art workshops within the camp, providing refugees with essential materials and a platform to express their stories visually in a universally understood medium. Watch their story as the project evolves.
