"We would like to get not only loud statements but to hear of real court verdicts as well. I think that this case will continue for a quite a long time because not all the persons involved have been arrested. It is still unclear who would fit the profile of her murderer because there are various versions of his personality. I presume that the investigation will take quite a long period of time."

"All unexposed political murders of recent years, including the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, indicate that there is big trouble in our country. There is disorder and obviously when we are uniting for our rally and the 'March of Dissenters' it means that we are consolidating our efforts. We hope that in time before (parliamentary and presidential) elections people will realise what is going on in the country and unite."

STORYLINE
A crowd gathered at the grave of slain journalist Anna Politkovskaya in Moscow on Sunday on the anniversary of her killing, as several hundred opposition activists held a solemn commemoration elsewhere in the capital.
Former colleagues and activists paid tribute to Politkovskaya, whose reporting on atrocities against civilians in Chechnya earned her international claim but angered the Kremlin.
After visiting her grave, they also laid flowers and placed a memorial plaque at the Moscow apartment building where Politkovskaya lived and was gunned down in a contract-style killing on October 7, 2006.
The Kremlin issued no statement related to Politkovskaya's case.
A few days after her killing, President Vladimir Putin shocked many by saying she had little influence, and that her killing hurt the government much more than her writing.
In August, Russia's chief prosecutor announced 10 suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing, which he said had been ordered by someone outside the country to discredit Putin and destabilise Russia, allegations that echoed officials' earlier claims.
Other protesters agreed.
