Bohurupi Santiniketan in it’s latest compilation- “Saptapadi” brings forth glimpses of Brahmo marriage unique to Shantiniketan interweaving the rituals, customs, and beliefs, to celebrate love, commitment, and spirituality. Chanting of Sanskrit hymns, the white floral surrounding, the chandeliers, the ‘alpona’ painted floor, accompanied by Tagore’s songs, as the couple takes the 7 vows (Saptapadi) creates an ethereal sequence of the wedding-fashion-musical saga.

Fascinated by the huge array of almost century-old distinctive alpona forms from Tagore’s land, Bohurupi Santiniketan has pioneered these motifs on the wedding trousseau. “Saptapadi” unearths the treasure trove of various intricate alpona designs embroidered minutely with utmost finesse on the muted, warm, earthy palettes upholding the grandeur of the otherwise fading art form.
