WICHITA, KS (KAKE) – Nearly seven years after losing her own son to gun violence, Keena Charles is doing whatever she can to teach young people about managing the strongest emotions.

Especially the emotions that led to her son’s final moments.

“December 2, 2017, my son was murdered,” said Charles.

Her son, Semaj Chambers, died in a shooting near 13th and Erie on Wichita’s northeast side. Semaj was only 25.
