Vietnamese capital busy getting ready to greet N. Korean leader

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has arrived in Hanoi,... a day ahead of his summit with President Trump.
Kim's train has just arrived at Dong Dang Station in Lang Son,... a city on the border with China.
For more on that, let's head over to our Park Hee-jun who's standing by at the Melia Hotel,... where Kim will be staying.
Hee-jun?

Mark, Kim arrived at Dong Dang Station this morning.
He's going to head toward Hanoi by car from the station.

Traffic has been banned on the road that Kim Jong-un will take to the capital.
So it should take him two to three hours to get here.
But it's unclear as of now whether he will come straight to Melia Hotel,... or if he’ll be making some stops along the way.
He could visit Hai Phong,... an economic powerhouse that's home to VinFast,... Vietnam's first automobile brand.
The port city is also where some South Korean factories including LG Electronics are based.
Other possible stops are Ha Long Bay, a popular tourist destination,...and Bac Ninh Province,... which has a Samsung Electronics smartphone factory.

And we just learned that Kim and Trump will finally meet tomorrow for a one-on-one.
They'll have a brief meeting, followed by a social dinner,... where the two leaders will be joined by two of their aides.
State Secretary Mike Pompeo will also join them.

And we originally believed that the Melia Hotel would be used as the White House Press Center. So will the American press be staying with Kim under the same roof?

It seems like it.
Because of the White House press center, it was believed that Kim Jong-un would be staying elsewhere.
But it looks like the hotel is going to be used for both purposes.
Now, as to why Kim chose to stay at the same venue...
There's no explanation other than that Kim wants to be exposed to the U.S. media.

And how is the atmosphere over there at the hotel with Kim expected to arrive soon?

As you might expect, it's pretty crazy out here.
Security is as tight as it can be.

They're not letting us inside the perimeters.
Relevant authorities have been preparing day and night for Kim's arrival.

Throughout the night, police have been setting up barricades around the hotel and in the streets that Kim will be using to get to the hotel.
Melia Hotel is also swarming with press,... standing by in the rain,... all waiting to see the North Korean leader and his delegation.

I don't see much movement yet from the North Korean bodyguards who have been staying here.
But I'll be keeping watch.
