The A14 is one of the UK's busiest non-motorway roads. It runs from the M1 & M6 junction at Catthorpe to the Port of Felixstowe, the UK's busiest container port. Linking several major roads along the way and carrying port traffic, the A14 has a very high percentage of HGVs.

The section of A14 from the A1 at Ellington near Brampton, to the M11 at Cambridge has been heavily improved to 3-lanes in each direction by the construction of a new southern bypass of Huntingdon. This opened to traffic in December 2019, and involved upgrades of the A1 between Brampton and Alconbury, as well as the A14 Cambridge northern bypass.

This video shows an eastbound journey along the A14, from junction 23 for the A1198 at Godmanchester, the road which used to carry the A14 label. to Junction 24 for the A1307 at Swavesey, where the road picks up the alignment of the former route.
