In this video I provide what I think are six of the best resources for learning how to code. Three of them are free and three are paid.

FREE RESOURCES

#1 YouTube

YouTube is one of the best places to learn about anything period. You can find channels on here that teach any programming language out there by doing a quick search. You can even learn how to develop app and websites on here. I used YouTube back in college when I was first learning Java. Shout outs to thenewboston he was the channel I used when I was first learning Java.

#2 Learn*.org

The learn websites offer basic and advanced tutorials for many of the most popular programming languages out there. They even offer a console that you type code into and run to get a result. Below you will find links to each of the programming languages that these sites offer.

Python (https://www.learnpython.org/)
Java (https://www.learnjavaonline.org/)
HTML & CSS (https://www.learn-html.org/)
Go (https://www.learn-golang.org/)
C (https://www.learn-c.org/)
C++ (https://www.learn-cpp.org/)
JavaScript (https://www.learn-js.org/)
PHP (https://www.learn-php.org/)
Shell (https://www.learnshell.org/)
C# (https://www.learncs.org/)
Perl (https://www.learn-perl.org/)
Ruby (https://www.learnrubyonline.org/)

#3 Official Documentation

The official documentation is a good resource for digging into the details for whatever programming language of framework you are learning. As an Android developer I find myself going to the official Java and Android documentation on a regular basis. This is good if I forget how to do something, want to know the details of a class or method, or if I want to use a new API that was released and need to understand it. Below you will find links to the official documentation for some of the most popular programming languages.

Python (https://docs.python.org/3/)
Java (https://docs.oracle.com/en/java/)
C++ (http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/)
JavaScript (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/d...)
Ruby (https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/document...)

PAID RESOURCES

#4 Treehouse (https://teamtreehouse.com/)

Treehouse is something that I used back when I was in college and first learning Android development. They were offering a scholarship for students and the time and I happened to get access to one. They offer "tech degrees" if you are into that type of thing along with various tracks and libraries. You can learn many things on the platform. The site also has gamification which adds a layer of incentive and fun.

#5 Udemy (https://udemy.com)

Udemy is an online platform in which anyone can upload a course and charge for it. The nice thing about Udemy is that it is not subscription based so once you purchase a course it is yours to consume as much a you need to. It even offers a rating system for each course so you can be confident that you are purchasing something that has benefited others.

#6 Books

Good old fashion books will always be a good resource for learning. They are also a good way to take yourself from an intermediate to expert level when it comes to knowledge. I recommend that you find out what are the best books for the programming language that you are learning and add it to your bookshelf.

Honorable Mention
Code Academy (https://www.codecademy.com/learn)
Udacity (https://www.udacity.com/)
