DBOT began playing together in 1992, officially forming the group in 1999. They began recording in 2004, making four records, including one that was #1 on the jazz radio airplay chart. They toured both the US and EU, highlighted by North American tours as opening act for Steely Dan.

The Deep Blue Organ Trio – Greg Rockingham (drs), Chris Foreman (org), and Bobby Broom (gtr) – disbanded in 2013.
