Political cooperation proves difficult at ASEAN Summit

Political cooperation among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, proves to be more difficult than imagined at the ongoing 26th ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While leaders from all 10 member countries gather to discuss establishing the ASEAN Community by the end of the year, analysts have pointed out that turning ASEAN into a cohesive political-security community is an elusive goal, especially when taking territorial disputes into consideration.
