Jack Higgins's THE EAGLE HAS LANDED is well-known through its film adaptation, and I'm a little sad that the sequel novel was never adapted for film or television too. Nonetheless, BBC radio adapted both books with the same cast - including Jack Higgins playing himself to frame the story (albeit credited under his real name). As before, though this is a war story - and one that takes the audacious step of making 'baddies' into 'goodies', with an IRA agent and a German paratrooper as the heroes - it's also very much an adventure story. It turns out that Kurt Steiner survived being shot when his attempt to kill Winston Churchill failed - and now British Intelligence have an offer for him that will put him on the side of the angels...
