Henry has been a protagonist in the development of sequence stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology. He received the Pettijohn Medal for excellence in sedimentology from SEPM in 2008, the William Smith Medal for contributions to applied aspects of geology from GSL in 2010 and the Robert Berg Award for Outstanding Petroleum Research in 2012.
